Engineering Graphics and Design

Our CAPS Grade 10 Engineering Graphics and Design module is perfect for FET Phase learners — mastering orthographic drawing, isometric projection, and technical design through adaptive interactive EGD education.
Grade: Grade 10
Age: Ages 16–18
Curriculum: CAPS
Subject: Technology & Computing

What to Expect from CAPS Grade 10 Engineering Graphics and Design

Grade 10 EGD establishes the core technical drawing skills that the entire FET course depends on — developing spatial reasoning, drawing precision, and the ability to communicate design intent through technical representation. EdSoft's adaptive module makes complex technical skills genuinely accessible.

Geometric Drawing

Grade 10 begins with geometric construction — learners develop precision skills in constructing geometric figures using compass and straightedge. Ellipses, polygons, and conic sections are drawn with mathematical accuracy.

Orthographic Projection

Orthographic projection is the foundation of technical drawing — learners develop the ability to represent 3D objects as three related 2D views (front, top, and side). Third-angle projection is the standard developed in CAPS Grade 10.

Isometric Drawing

Isometric drawing develops the ability to represent 3D objects in a pictorial form that gives a realistic impression of shape and proportion. Learners develop the spatial reasoning needed to translate between orthographic and isometric representations.

Sectional Views

Sectional views — cutting planes that reveal internal features of objects — are introduced in Grade 10, developing learners' ability to represent and interpret complex technical drawings.

How EdSoft Supports CAPS Grade 10 EGD
