Life Skills
What to Expect from CAPS Grade 4 Life Skills
In Grade 4, Life Skills narrows its focus to two integrated strands: Creative Arts and Physical Education. The Beginning Knowledge and Personal Social Well-being content is now embedded across other learning areas. EdSoft's module delivers rich, engaging content across both remaining strands.
Creative Arts
Grade 4 Creative Arts provides dedicated learning in all four art forms. Visual Arts develops drawing, painting, and printmaking skills with growing technical sophistication. Music develops instrument playing, music reading, and vocal technique. Drama develops performance skills, characterisation, and theatre literacy. Dance develops technique, compositional skills, and cultural dance appreciation — with reference to South African dance traditions.
EdSoft's interactive creative arts activities guide learners through structured skill development while preserving space for individual creative expression.
Physical Education
Grade 4 Physical Education introduces more formal sports and movement disciplines — athletics, gymnastics, games, and aquatics are all explored. Learners develop the physical literacy, fair play values, and movement vocabulary needed to participate confidently in a range of physical activities.
