What to Expect from CAPS Grade 7 Creative Arts

Grade 7 Creative Arts begins the Senior Phase by developing more structured and technically demanding skills across all four art forms — visual art, music, drama, and dance. EdSoft's adaptive module develops both technical skill and creative confidence in an environment that celebrates every learner's artistic voice.

Visual Arts

Grade 7 visual arts develops drawing, painting, and printmaking with growing technical sophistication — learners explore perspective, proportion, tone, and texture through guided art-making projects that develop both technique and personal expression. South African and African art forms are studied and celebrated.

Music

Grade 7 music develops more formal music literacy — reading and writing standard notation, understanding music theory, and performing both vocally and instrumentally. Music technology is introduced as a creative tool.

Drama

Senior Phase drama develops performance skills, characterisation, and script analysis. Grade 7 learners explore devised and scripted performance, develop stagecraft awareness, and begin to study theatre history and form.

Dance

Grade 7 dance develops more sophisticated technique in contemporary and African dance traditions — learners study choreographic principles and begin to compose and perform their own short dance works.
