What to Expect from the GED Social Studies Module
The GED Social Studies test assesses the ability to understand and analyse information across four content areas — civics and government, United States history, economics, and geography and the world. EdSoft's adaptive module prepares learners for all four through targeted, test-focused content.
Civics and Government
Civics is the largest content area of the GED Social Studies test — covering the principles of American democracy, the US Constitution, the structure of government, and the rights and responsibilities of citizens. Learners develop the ability to read and interpret primary source documents including the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and key court decisions.
EdSoft's adaptive civics exercises develop both content knowledge and the document analysis skills that the GED rewards.
United States History
Key periods of US history — the founding era, westward expansion, Civil War and Reconstruction, 20th-century conflicts, and the civil rights movement — are developed through a lens of historical reasoning and primary source interpretation.
Economics
Basic economic concepts — supply and demand, government fiscal and monetary policy, the global economy, and personal finance — are explored at a GED-appropriate level through real-world examples and data.
Geography and the World
Geographic literacy — reading maps, understanding geographic concepts, and analysing the relationships between physical geography and human activity — is developed as a component of the Social Studies test.
